The Ramona Pageant is an outdoor play which is held annually in an outdoor natural amphitheater. The play is based on the novel Ramona, by Helen Hunt Jackson. The play is a love story about Ramona and Alessandro, blending history and fiction transporting you back in time to a period of early California history. The main characters of Ramona and Alessandro are "roles of a lifetime" for the actors selected to portray them. The novel was originally published in 1884. The play was first performed in 1923. Actress Raquel Welch played the title role in 1959.

Caption: The city of Hemet is nestled in the San Jacinto Valley, at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains. Hemet is the home of California's official outdoor play, The Ramona Pageant.
