Illinois

Postcard courtesy of Mrs., Schultz’s 7th Grade Class

Greetings from beautiful Southern Illinois!
We are a 7th grade class in Harrisburg Middle School. Our school is located on 60 acres near the Shawnee National Forest. We are also close to the Garden of the Gods, a 3300 acre wilderness area, ranked 10th in the United States for photographing sandstone rock formations. If you like the great outdoors, Southern Illinois is the place to explore. We have pirate caves (Cave-in-Rock), bike trails and spring-fed quarries.

Caption: Old Stone Face – Hiking the upper trail you can find peace and quiet, animals, birds, flowers, also a good view of Old Stone Face and the valley below. Markers South of Harrisburg on Route 34 send you East about five miles. Photo by Mike Coles.
