In 1990 I covered The Paris-Dakar road ralley race as a television cameraman, but I also took my still camera with me and snapped photos whenever I could. We were waiting for the racers to drive by while we were out in the desert and from out of nowhere, these 3 ladies appeared. We bought some homemade jewelry from them while they were wondering why we were waiting there. I felt that this shot really captures the 3 girls in their harsh environment. We were all wearing professional desert hiking boots and safari shorts. What would you wear in the desert?
