QUESTION:
What was your favorite sport and why?
ANSWER
from Jason Morrella on 30 November 2002:
As a fan, my favorite sports are Baseball and Football.
I'm a big San Francisco Giants and 49er fan, and have
been since I was very young. When I was younger, my
favorite sports to play were baseball, soccer, and
basketball. I really enjoyed the competition, the
strategy, and the teamwork. Thinking about why I
liked playing those sports more than others, I guess it
had something to do with always being on the field/court
for offense and defense and being involved in the entire
game, plus those were the sports I just seemed to pick up
a little quicker and do better at.

QUESTION:
Why did you choose to work with the older grades?
ANSWER
from Jason Morrella on 30 November 2002:
That's a good question. There is no real reason why
I didn't chose the other levels. I think it
was a combination of a few things: I had a few
teachers in High School who really inspired me and who I
felt made a big contribution in areas beyond just
academics, such as teaching myself and some of my friends
the importance of being a good person, working hard,
thinking about others, and respecting other cultures.
As I was fairly young when I started teaching, I also
felt that I could relate well with the high school
students and could speak to them on a more adult level.
I really enjoy discussing current social issues and
controversial topics with students and helping them to
see the importance making educated, informed decisions
will have on their lives, their futures, and their world.

QUESTION:
Out of all the robots you've seen, what is your favorite
robot?
ANSWER
from Jason Morrella on 30 November 2002:
There are just too many to pick one. Each year the
game in the FIRST Robotics Competition is different,
meaning I have been lucky enough to see thousands of
different robots over the past 5 years. I honestly
have about 25-30 favorite robots over the past 5 years,
but off the top of my head I would say some of my
favorite robots have been:
1999 - Team 100 Woodside High in California
2000 - Team 47 - Chief Delphi in Michigan
2001 - Team 254 - The Cheesy Poofs in San Jose,
California
2001 - Team 71 - Team Hammond in Beatty, Indiana
2001 - Team 111 - Wildstang from Illinois
2001 - Team 60 - Kingman from Arizona

QUESTION:
Do you have any children?
ANSWER
from Jason Morrella on 30 November 2002:
No.
I work too much right now and haven't gotten married yet.
But I spend so much time with students on the robotics
teams each year that it's kind of like having kids - but
I can send them back to their parents when they are
grumpy, moody, or misbehaving - so that works out pretty
good. :)

QUESTION:
What is your favorite animal? And why?
ANSWER
from Jason Morrella on 30 November 2002:
Hmmm, good question. I like cats because they are
independent and don't need too much attention. I
like medium sized "buddy" dogs, the kind that
can play catch and frisbee - but aren't too big/angry/or
dangerous, or aren't too small and yelp/make noise all
the time.
