Yes, eventually I discovered that the sun warmed the rock

QUESTION:
What are drosophila? What is a genus?
ANSWER
from Tim Karr on 22 May 2002:
I can answer both of these questions as they are related:
Drosophila is a genus of two-winged insects known as
dipterans (di = two, pteran = wing). This is a very
large group that includes the common house fly and
mosquitoes. An excellent site (there are many!) to
learn more about diptera can be found here - http://www.sel.barc.usda.gov/diptera/
