Fort Edmonton Park is a reconstruction of Fort Edmonton, the fur trading post that was built in 1795 on the North Saskatchewan River.  The park is a popular tourist spot where people can see the beginnings of settlement in the region and what life was like in the 1800s.  Two hundred years later, these humble beginnings have now emerged as one of the largest metropolitan areas in Canada.
