Virginia

Hello from Virginia!
My name is Ysabela and I am homeschooled this year. I live near the mountains and we see many animals like foxes, deer, raccoons, turkeys and opossums. We have rabbits and groundhogs too. My state is known for the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and the dogwood trees. Our state bird is the cardinal and we see many of those in our yard. I live near the New River. It flows from south to north and cuts through the Appalachian Mountains in the process. It is one of the oldest rivers in the world.

Caption: Because of its striking beauty and its widespread habitat, the cardinal is the official bird of seven states: Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. The dogwood is the state flower of Virginia.
